Eva

This is the place where yesterday Eva sat while we interviewed her.

It was a beautiful Shabbat morning and she was shining like a jewel.

Yael had wisely positioned her camera and had made sure that both the light and the frame were correct. She was sitting to my right, respectfully silent, all her senses focused in capturing the magical moment in images.

Naomi, to my left, was also calm and attentive, ready to translate if Eva suddenly chose to change from English to Hebrew in her answers. It did not happen, but her sensitivity and empathy were essential in the process.

Yael said: “The camera is on”. And so we started.

I asked the first question and listened. And then the second one, and listened. Giving the time and the space for Eva to say what she wanted and express it the way that she needed. Staying connected with her heart and mine, taking much care of the bond that was created while we spoke. Feeling very strongly Yael’s and Naomi’s presence and support. Trusting the field.

It felt like a miracle. Like touching the very core of human experience. So delicate and profound, so sacred, so full of love and worthy of love.

Yael said: “We couldn’t have wished for a better start”. Naomi and I nodded and smiled. Eva was shining like the sun.

Eva

Yael dijo: “Estamos rodando”. Y empezamos.

Naomi y yo asentimos sonriendo. Eva brillaba como el sol.
